Visiting some websites I use to daily consult, my attention has been caught by an article named “Only Italian Olives” that has strongly inspired the present post I would like to share with you, nameing it Let’save the original “Made in Italy”.
It is the news of the moment reported by the most important media and social networks as well. I would like to really use it as a starting point to reflect with you about what unfortunately still generally happens in some foreign countries.
Forgery, is something to be proud of or not?
At first sight the answer would be …YES! If forgery exsists, it means that anyone aims at having particular products too expensive in their original versions that could be useful, for example, to satisfy that market sectors that can’t afford them.
Now, let’s zoom the problem in on the Food & Beverage sector. It’s the same phonomenon, the Made in Italy has been having considered a guarantee all over the world for a long time, an Italian Restaurant abroad can have more possibilities to succeed in terms of clients rather than a Thai one as, in the collective consiousness, the Italian cuisine is the best in the world and Italy is among the first countries to show excellences all over it.
As Italian girl I can assert: “Well, it’s a honor! It means that everyone would stay in our place and would be us, and forgery is the real proof “. But…what happens then to the global market? What about all the global Import & Export goods exchange?
Carfully thinking the right answer is NO! Italian goods forgery is never something we have to be proud of, it’s an evident violation and offense against those Italian companies that constantly invest their time, money and energies in producing something that, because of forgery, won’t be never exported anymore.
But what is the main forgery’s cause and origin?
According to my international experiece, my personal opinion is that prices are the main cause. The Made in Italy is expensive! Unfortunately many foreing importers or buyers would like to have cheap Made in Italy products, sometimes they are able to get them, but what about the quality then?
Forgery just originates from their not being able in getting cheap Italian products, and this causes, of course, serious problem at the global market. Considering, in particular, the Extra Virgin Olive Oil 100% Italian product, be informed that, at moment, the best offer the Italian market can propose abroad is of € 4.00/lt (one 5 lit tank = € 20.00), how can it be possible not to be doubtful about the quality in case we find abroad a 5 lit Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil tank at, let’s say, € 10,00 or € 15.00?
Let’s save the Made in Italy and sensitize buyers!
In order to keep inaltered and to preserve our precious patrimony let’s sensitize our foreign clients in not demanding us a too cheap products. At this point the original Made in Italy is something exclusive that must be necessarily paid in order to peserve an undeniable quality.
Sometimes there could be the possibility to have lower prices but only as mere strategy adopted by producers to enter a specific market, so don’t sell off what we produce, find the courage to say “I’m sorry I can’t provide you with this product at this price, if you want I can suggest you……” and suggest them an alternative or a foreign competitior, if you know about it of course, that could be more competitive than you.
They have to understand that only Italian producers can provide them with the original Made in Italy goods and that it must be paid accordingly. If the future of Italy is abroad, please, let’s defend all what could stop the export of our products.
